Parker Bertea Aerospace: Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. has selected the Irvine firm to design and produce the horizontal stabilizer operating package for its new Astra Galaxy business jet. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
The two-speed system, called a trim actuator, will be built by Parker Bertea Aerospace Control Systems division in Irvine and installed in conjunction with an electronic controller built by Parker Bertea’s Gull Electronic Systems Division in New York.
Israel Aircraft Industries estimates that between 140 and 220 Astra Galaxy jets will be built over the life of the program. The actuator is scheduled for delivery beginning in August.
Parker Bertea Aerospace designs, manufactures and services hydraulic, pneumatic and fuel components, systems and related electronic controls for aircraft, space and marine high-technology markets. It is a subsidiary of Cleveland-based Parker Hannifin Corp., a $2.6-billion maker of motion-control components and systems for the industrial and aerospace markets.
