Judge Nixes Basinger Settlement: Calling the proposed payout to Main Line Pictures too large, a federal Bankruptcy Court judge in Los Angeles refused to approve a settlement between actress Kim Basinger and her creditors. Judge Geraldine Mund cited a ruling in September by the 2nd U.S. District Court of Appeal that overturned an $8.1-million Los Angeles County Superior Court judgment against Basinger for reneging on a promise to appear in Main Line’s box office bomb “Boxing Helena.” The settlement rejected by Mund set the company’s claim at $3.8 million and would have given Main Line another $2.2 million if any hidden assets were found.
