A remodeled theater at Golden West College will open Friday night with a new name and almost doubled seating capacity.
Formerly called the Actor’s Playbox, the redesigned facility is now called the Stage West Studio Theater. Seating in the old Actor’s Playbox was limited to 50; the new theater has room for 99.
College spokeswoman Kelly Vander Lans said the redesigned theater still “offers patrons an intimate theater experience.”
Fine arts Dean David Anthony added: “The facilities now parallel the wonderful productions being staged.”
The remodeled theater’s debut show is the British comedy “Taking Steps.” It plays through Oct. 23 at 15744 Golden West St. For times and ticket information, call (714) 895-8378.
