The Works Progress Administration, a New Deal creation of Franklin Roosevelt’s first Administration, constructed some of Orange County’s most architecturally distinctive buildings.
Although some local WPA structures have been razed, about a dozen have survived to become local landmarks and are in use today.
Fullerton has the most WPA-constructed buildings in the county, all designed in the ornate Spanish Colonial style.
W.O. Hart Park at 701 S. Glassell St. in Orange is home to two WPA structures: a Spanish-style pool complex built in 1936 and a band shell completed in 1938.
WPA buildings were designed to be both stylish and functional.

West Anaheim Medical Center is offering a “drive-through” flu shot from 8 a.m. to noon.
Shots will be administered to people older than 12 and are recommended for senior citizens and those with heart and lung problems or weak immune systems. The cost is $5.
The clinic will be set up in the hospital parking lot at 3033 W. Orange Ave.
