SEASON AT A GLANCE: Brache, a soccer player since his youth who first kicked a football three years ago, has kicked eight field goals in the Crusaders’ first five games and leads the team in scoring with 30 points. He is averaging 39.8 yards a punt and is being recruited by Washington and Southern Methodist.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Brache tied a Southern Section record last week by kicking five field goals in a game. He converted from 35, 42, 48, 55 and 56 yards in the Crusaders’ 29-14 victory over Southern California Christian. A 32-yard attempt was blocked. His 56-yard field goal set a Division X record, breaking the record (set by Brache last year) by two yards.
