In Century League girls’ tennis:
El Modena 9, Canyon 9 (El Modena wins on games 66-59)--El Modena’s singles players, undefeated in the last four matches, lost only four games against No. 4 Canyon (12-2, 3-2). Brandi Freudenberg, who has lost only four games all season, didn’t lose a game as she swept her sets. Amy Medlin and Holli Freudenberg each swept their sets, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for unranked El Modena (7-4, 4-1).
In Golden West League girls’ tennis:
Rosary 15, Saddleback 3--Freshman Michelle Hamilton didn’t lose a game, sweeping her sets at No. 3 singles for Rosary (7-3, 3-0). Saddleback is 5-1, 3-1.
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 14, Santa Margarita 4--Vanessa Godbey swept her sets 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, to lead No. 3 Newport Harbor (7-2, 3-1) over the No. 10 Eagles. Teammate Sarah Hawkins also swept in singles, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1.
In Garden Grove League girls’ volleyball:
Pacifica 3, Los Amigos 1--Tracy Burns had 11 kills and 11 digs to lead visiting Pacifica (7-2, 6-0) over Los Amigos (15-5, 13-15, 15-11, 15-10). Los Amigos is 6-3, 5-1.
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 3, San Clemente 2--Katie Wilson had 26 kills and Lindsay Mayer had 52 assists to lead Capistrano Valley (5-3, 3-0) to a 15-10, 4-15, 6-15, 15-12, 15-6 victory at San Clemente. Wendy Wilkins had 18 kills and Mary Luhrs 15 kills for host San Clemente (2-7, 1-2),
In the Sunset League:
Huntington Beach 3, Marina 1--Melissa Wendt had 20 kills for No. 2 Huntington Beach (7-1, 3-0), which beat No. 8 Marina (6-4, 1-2), 15-4, 15-7, 11-15, 15-7.
Edison 3, Fountain Valley 0--Shelby Clemens led the third-ranked Chargers (9-0, 3-0) with 14 kills. Teammate Jill Butts added 35 assists, 10 digs and three aces in the 15-7, 15-4, 15-7 victory.
