LONG BEACH : Real Estate Agent Unhurt in Bombing of His Car

An eight-inch bomb damaged a Long Beach real estate agent’s car Tuesday, but he escaped without a scratch.

The blast occurred about 9 a.m. in the 700 block of East Ocean Boulevard, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Margarita DeWitt.

The apparent intended victim, commercial agent Lloyd Ikerd, was shaken up but otherwise unhurt.

“The car was just totally blown up,” Ikerd said. Asked if he knew who would target him, Ikerd said: “I have no idea.”

Police said the device was about eight inches long and had been placed under the passenger side of the car. The explosion blew off the car’s hubcaps and front grill and caused the air bag to deploy, according to KCBS-Channel 2.
