7 High School Seniors Chosen for Rose Court

After screening nearly 700 contestants, officials of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses on Tuesday presented the Royal Court that will reign over the 106th Rose Parade on Jan. 2.

One of the seven young women, all high school seniors, will be named Rose Queen on Tuesday. The others will take their places as princesses during the Rose Parade and more than 100 community events in 1995.

The members of the Tournament of Roses Royal Court are:

* Sandy Cho, 17, of La Canada. The La Canada High School student is a volunteer at Verdugo Hills Hospital and a member of the National Honors Society.

* Melissa Dittmar, 17, of San Marino. She attends San Marino High School and is a member of several service clubs and the Holy Family Church Youth group.

* Aliya Haque, 17, of San Marino. She is a member of the yearbook staff at Polytechnic High and has volunteered in her city councilman’s office.

* Rachelle Joseph, 17, of South Pasadena. She is a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of the yearbook staff at South Pasadena High.

* Lianne Mead, 17, of Arcadia. A cheerleader at Arcadia High, she is active in the Arcadia Junior Auxiliary Guild.

* Chelseah Perth, 17, of San Marino. She is a student representative to the San Marino High School Board of Education.

* Sabrina White, 16, of South Pasadena. The South Pasadena High School student is a volunteer at the South Pasadena Public Library and Buchanan Street Elementary School.

The young women were selected during a monthlong review based on a combination of qualities and abilities, including public speaking, academic achievement, community involvement, poise and personality.
