New Job for Former Daily News Publisher: David J. Auger, who announced his plans to resign as publisher of the Daily News of Los Angeles last week, has been tapped to head the Southland marketing efforts of Cross Country Wireless, the largest wireless cable company in the nation. Auger, 38, had worked in the marketing departments for Cooke CableVision and Warner Communications before becoming publisher of the Woodland Hills-based newspaper in 1989. Maryland-based Cross Country Wireless serves about 42,000 customers in Riverside and is trying to expand throughout much of Southern California.
