UNIVERSAL CITY — A stuntman in the “Miami Vice” show at Universal Studios fell off a jet ski during rehearsal Monday and suffered minor injuries.
The performer, Joe Box, 25, was treated and released from St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The show, based on the once-popular television series about vice detectives in Miami, opened in 1987 and features a speedboat ride through a simulated lagoon, among other fast-paced stunts.
Accounts of what led up to the accident differed. Universal spokesman Michael Gray said the stuntman simply fell off his ski. But paramedics said they responded to a report that Box was hit by another jet skier, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
“It was a very, very minor accident,” Gray said.
