TRAVEL AND TOURISM : America West Promotion Could Help County Land More Tourist Dollars
- Share via
America West Airlines began offering vacation packages to Orange County last week, a move that could boost the local tourism industry.
America West Vacations, the airline’s tour packaging division, is marketing the three-day air fare and hotel deals for $124 per person from Phoenix, $194 from Portland, Ore., or Seattle, and $334 from Columbus, Ohio.
“Southern California is one of the country’s most popular year-round vacation destinations,” said Karen Cahn, manager of California and Florida marketing for America West Vacations.
The packages include tickets to Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, which has a marketing agreement with America West.
The packages aid a tourism industry that is bouncing back from recession. Though hotels and attractions are still heavily discounting, recent hotel occupancy figures attest to the Southland’s appeal as a vacation destination.
After riots, earthquakes, fires and floods, the worst may be over.
