PREP EXTRA / SATURDAY FOOTBALL PULLOUT : Buena Park Defense Delivers 20-7 Victory over Bellflower

Buena Park linebacker Hung Thai returned an interception 100 yards and Jude Reyes kicked two field goals as Buena Park won its first game of the season by defeating Bellflower, 20-7, Friday night.

Bellflower quarterback Jonathon Rivers appeared to be driving his team for the game’s first score after the Buccaneers recovered a Buena Park fumble on the Coyote 35 yard line. But a third-and-goal pass from the four was intercepted by Thai at the goal line. He raced down the left sideline to give the Coyotes a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Bellflower was trailing, 10-0, in the third quarter when running back Sean Rumboiz capped a nine-play, 74-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run.

But Buena Park answered with a 92-yard touchdown drive, capped by running back Aaron Hudson’s 12-yard touchdown run.

Buena Park put the game away midway through the fourth quarter, when Reyes kicked a 40-yard field goal.

While the Buena Park offense controlled the game, Coyote linebackers Niel Flores, Robert Leventhal and Osualdo Olmos kept Bellflower off-balance with blitzes.
