TreePeople Staging Annual Fund-Raiser

The environmental group TreePeople is holding its annual fund-raiser, “Evening Under the Harvest Moon,” at its Coldwater Canyon Park headquarters tonight.

Featured in the $250-a-person fund-raiser will be a 10-minute film by David Zucker and Marshall Herskovitz about the work of the organization. Zucker was a producer of “Naked Gun,” “Airplane” and other comedy movies, and Herskovitz was a creator of the television series “thirtysomething.”

The film was still being edited as of Friday, said TreePeople spokesman Joel Brokaw, who added that it included some “lightness” to the material. It is meant to give a broader view of what TreePeople is all about.

“It’s more than just planting trees,” Brokaw said, adding that they wanted to get across the message that people can do a lot to help in their own neighborhood. “What TreePeople is about is getting young people and adults involved in making that personal difference.”

Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling (310) 393-5600. Parking is available at Harvard-Westlake High School with shuttle service to the event.
