Two Westlake Village women on a morning walk were struck by a car and injured, one of them seriously, in Thousand Oaks Thursday, authorities said.
The victims, Jane A. Taschereau, 51, and Arlene H. Levitt, 57, were hit by car at about 7:50 a.m. at Westlake Boulevard and Triunfo Canyon Road, said Sheriff’s Deputy Cindy Vickers.
Vickers said the women, neighbors who routinely took morning strolls together, were walking east in the crosswalk when the car turned left on a green light from eastbound Triunfo Canyon to northbound Westlake.
The driver of the car, Walter Johnson of Westlake Village, failed to yield the right of way to the women while they were in the crosswalk, Vickers said, adding that Johnson estimated he was traveling about 15 m.p.h. when his car struck the women. The investigation was continuing.
Taschereau, who suffered a broken pelvis and left shoulder, was listed in serious condition at Westlake Medical Center, said spokeswoman Kris Carraway.
She said Levitt, who suffered a head laceration, was listed in fair condition. Both were in the intensive care unit.
