Positive Experience

On Sunday, Sept. 11, I personally spent some seven hours with Nellie the elephant at Oktoberfest. She purred with delight, danced with her trainer and showed everyone watching how to eat a watermelon--whole.
For the first time in my life I was able to appreciate the intelligence and friendliness of an elephant. While giving rides, Nellie played with her toys, including her “lunch box.”
The only remark that the Los Angeles Times could make was to nit-pick about the animal, rather than comment on the positive learning experiences 2,000 people in attendance witnessed.
