Aerospace Retraining Grant Anticipated: The Labor Department today is expected to announce a $7.1-million grant to AlliedSignal Inc.’s Torrance-based aerospace group to retrain 2,090 of its workers in five states, including 590 in Torrance and Sylmar. The program is aimed at helping employees learn skills in non-defense fields before they face layoffs from defense cuts.
