Nominees for School District Hall of Fame Being Sought
- Share via
So it’s not Cooperstown. The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Hall of Fame still boasts some heavy hitters, including state Sen. John R. Lewis (R-Orange) and Olympic champion swimmer Janet Evans.
Now the district is looking for other graduates with gold medal qualifications to be inducted into the hall this school year. Candidates being sought are graduates of El Dorado, Valencia, Esperanza or El Camino Real high schools who have become successful in their chosen fields and are contributing members of society.
Candidates must also demonstrate high personal and professional standards.
The Hall of Fame was begun in January, 1992, to highlight the achievements of local students. In addition to Evans and Lewis, inductees include Elisa Bell, a screenwriter who graduated from Esperanza, and Rick Aguirre, an attorney and Valencia graduate.
Nominations will be accepted from teachers, district employees and community members through Oct. 21. The 1994-95 school year’s inductees will be announced next spring.
For more information, call the district office at (714) 996-2550.
