The orange groves that once blanketed the county are quickly disappearing.
But the dried-bean industry is growing into one of the county’s top producers.
According to the county agricultural report, dried beans are in big demand. The lima bean makes up the greatest proportion of the county’s dried-bean crop.

Teen-agers interested in a career in the medical and health-care fields can attend an orientation workshop at Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center.
The hospital sponsors a medical explorer program for teens that is sanctioned by the Boy Scouts of America. Explorers can observe medical procedures and work in the emergency room.
The orientation begins at 7 p.m. at 1201 Garden Grove Blvd. Information: (714) 741-2790.
