The Garden Grove Unified School District has received a $150,000 grant from the state to put advanced computer equipment into classrooms at eight schools, a spokesman said.
The grant is aimed at limited-English speaking students and will be split among Carrillo, Monroe, Morningside, Post, Riverdale, and Stanford elementary schools, Alamitos Intermediate School and Rancho Alamitos High School.
Awards for individual schools ranged from $13,150 to $33,050.
The schools will use the money to buy computers, CD-ROM players, laser disc players and educational software. The equipment should be in use as early as spring.
