Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Ex-Convicts Help Rescue Missing Boy
- Share via
Residents of a halfway house rescued a missing boy and captured his suspected kidnaper after the boy’s mother, upset by the lack of police action, sought help from the ex-convicts in her own search. A dozen halfway house residents discovered the 11-year-old boy and his alleged captor wrapped in a blanket near the boy’s home. The boy was naked and apparently had not eaten since he was abducted Thursday while walking to an aunt’s house, police said. The boy’s mother said she turned to the halfway house residents after police told her they could not launch an immediate search because the boy did not meet criteria for a missing person.
