Rising Production Drives Industrial Output Up 3.8%: Japan’s industrial output surged 3.8% in August from July, a result of rising production of a wide range of items from personal computers to clothing, the government said. August’s rise, according to economists, provides further strong evidence that Japan’s economy is gathering steam after its 3 1/2-year slump.
