Fountain Valley Tennis Team Makes Finals

Fountain Valley’s Los Caballeros tennis team defeated the Pacific Northwest, 2-1, Saturday to advance to the finals of the USTA team nationals in Las Vegas.
In doubles, Mitch Bridge and Dexter MacBride defeated Ned Hastings and Rob Peterson, 6-2, 6-0, and Steven Jung and Gerardo Rivera defeated Len Spencer and Kevin Jettgueyer, 6-2, 6-0. In singles, Los Caballeros’ Doug Eisenman defaulted to Mark Wagner because of a back strain after splitting the first two sets.
A women’s team from Orange County also advanced to the finals. The team, led by Sheri Norris, beat Texas, 2-1. Cammy McGregor beat Amy Webster, 6-3, 6-1, in singles. Linda Howell and Lisa Seeman defeated Julie Cast and Karen Koen, 6-4, 6-1. The No. 2 doubles team of Norris and Betty Ann Dent lost to Cindy Crawford and Nancy Webster, 7-6, 6-3.
Los Caballeros will play in the round-robin finals today against Northern California and Texas.
