World IN BRIEF : BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA : U.N., Serbs Agree to Aid Resumption

The United Nations and Bosnian Serbs agreed to allow resumption of road convoys that have been under rebel blockade since a NATO air strike 10 days ago. Under the agreement allowing U.N. logistics and humanitarian aid convoys to resume, the Bosnian Serbs also accepted talks on restarting a vital U.N. airlift to Sarajevo, which had been grounded by rebel gunfire. The anti-U.N. blockade posed a potential humanitarian emergency for Serb-encircled government enclaves with winter nearing and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization hesitating to take tougher action against Bosnian Serbs.
