Newman, Garrigan Spark Santa Margarita

Billy Newman rushed for 120 yards and teammate Brian Garrigan ran for 119 as Santa Margarita beat Kern County McFarland, 36-0, Friday at McFarland.
Garrigan, a senior, scored three touchdowns and Newman, a sophomore, added one for Santa Margarita (2-2), which led, 23-0, at halftime.
Garrigan’s scored on runs of three, three and four yards. His second and third touchdowns came in the third quarter.
Santa Margarita ends its nonleague schedule with a game against Fountain Valley Friday at Orange Coast College.
The Eagles then open Sea View League play with an Oct. 14 game against Woodbridge at Saddleback College. McFarland is 2-2.
