BOSSIER CITY, La. — Ever since hitting the jackpot in his first stakes, the Louisiana Derby, Kandaly has spent a long season collecting consolation prizes.
Kandaly will try to snap a six-race losing streak today in the $750,000 Super Derby XV at Louisiana Downs.
The morning line isn’t exactly bubbling at his chances: He’s the 8-1 fifth choice in the field of eight 3-year-olds going 1 1/4 miles.
The 2-1 favorite in the Grade I race is Soul Of The Matter, the winner of the San Felipe Stakes.
Meadow Flight, winner of the Flamingo Stakes and the Pennsylvania Derby, is listed as the second favorite at 5-2 in the Grade I race for 3-year-olds at 1 1/4 miles.
Concern, the Arkansas Derby winner, is at 3-1.
Kandaly has earned money in each of his 10 races. Even during his losing streak, he earned $146,190.
