Times staff writer David W. Myers catches up with former Dodgers and Angels
Some Yankee scouts had tabbed Repoz, a left-handed outfielder, as the heir to Mickey Mantle. He made his debut with New York in 1964, but his hitting proved disappointing and he was traded to Kansas City before settling with the Angels in 1967. He hit 13 home runs in ’68 and 18 in 1970. He left in ’72 to start a five-year stint in Japan, where he became one of that country’s most feared batters. Repoz, 53, is plant manager at Fabrica International, a carpet manufacturer in Santa Ana.
