The city’s new Parks and Recreation Department will throw its first Fourth of July bash Monday, with a parade and barbecue scheduled for 2 p.m. at Laguna Hills High School.
The city is encouraging people to walk or ride their bicycles or horses along the city’s trail network to the school campus, 25401 Paseo de Valencia. The celebration will begin with a parade around the school track led by the equestrians of Nellie Gail.
Participants can play carnival games, eat barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs and listen to a country-Western band until 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the most patriotic costumes.
Monday’s event will be the first “All City Fourth of July” celebration here, because the Parks and Recreation Department was formed last fall.
