*** Glenn Jones, “Here I Am,” Atlantic. Long recognized as a gospel wailer, Jones also treads the more worldly R&B; path with equally stirring results. His unabashedly sensual title cut is the best soul ballad he’s ever recorded, while on the surprisingly savvy “Round and Round” Jones jams quite convincingly. Not surprisingly, he infuses every track with gospel-edged fervor.
