Two Girls Injured When Hit by Car

ANAHEIM — Two Anaheim girls were struck by a car, one suffering critical injuries, on Magnolia Avenue about 3 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Sophan Kes, 14, and Thevy Kes, 7, had walked halfway across the street, heading east, when a large northbound truck stopped to let them pass, Sgt. Ed Dougherty said.
But as the girls passed the truck and stepped into the next lane, he said, a car hit both of them.
Dougherty said it did not appear that the driver of the car had committed any traffic violation. She did not see the two girls, police said, until they stepped into her path.
The girls were treated by Anaheim Fire Department paramedics and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
