A 70-year-old Camarillo woman was killed when she stepped behind a friend’s car as it was backing up and was knocked down and dragged 10 feet before the vehicle came to a stop on top of her, police said Thursday.
Ruth Michael was killed Wednesday evening when her friend, Ann Dosick, 79, both of Camarillo’s Leisure Village, was backing up her car in front of Michael’s home in the 2600 block of Leisure Village No. 26.
Dosick had come to Michael’s residence to pick her up for an evening function they were to attend together, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.
Police also said it is not known why Michael walked behind the moving car.
