Jadine Nielsen, who managed Richard Riordan’s campaign for mayor and briefly served as a deputy mayor, was appointed Wednesday as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s liaison for California and the West.
In the new position, she will serve as a regional advocate between the SBA and the businesses and local governments in California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Guam.
Nielsen, 45, was a longtime aide to former Sen. Alan Cranston and headed President Clinton’s Northern California campaign operation. After leading Riordan to victory last year, she became the city’s first Asian American deputy mayor. She resigned that position in October after several months to return to political consulting.
