SIMI VALLEY : Work on Apartments for Seniors to Begin

Construction of a 108-unit apartment complex for low-income senior citizens is scheduled to begin in July, after the Simi Valley City Council approved a $230,000 loan for the project.
The council approved the loan to speed up construction of the long-awaited Las Serenas development.
USA Properties Fund asked for the loan to help subsidize rents for low-income senior citizens at the complex, which will be built on a vacant lot at Yosemite and Los Angeles avenues.
Rents for the one- and two-bedroom apartments planned at Las Serenas will range from $365 to $630, a spokesman for USA Properties said.
