Black & Decker Recalls 750,000 Coffee Makers: The Shelton, Conn., based company, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, will voluntarily recall the under-cabinet appliances made between 1984 and 1988 because they contain thermostats that could cause a fire. So far, about 75 coffee makers have shown signs of thermostat damage. Black & Decker Corp. said the recall covers SDC 1, 2 and 3 coffee makers carrying either the Black & Decker or General Electric brand name and with date codes (a three-digit number on the outside of the plug prong) of 406 through 822. Consumers should bring the recalled appliances to Black & Decker service centers for inspection.
