Separate Accidents Kill 1, Injure 1

ANAHEIM — An 84-year-old Huntington Beach motorist was killed and a pedestrian was critically injured in two unrelated traffic accidents, police said Sunday.
The first accident was about 6 p.m. Saturday on Katella Avenue east of Lewis Street when the elderly motorist pulled out of a private driveway and was struck by a driver westbound on Katella.
The victim, Harold Gellerman, died at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The other accident happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a pedestrian was struck by a car as he tried to cross La Palma Avenue near East Street.
The man, who had yet to be identified by police, suffered head injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center.
Both accidents are under investigation, police said.
