LOS ANGELES : 20 Youth Groups Awarded Olympic Surplus Grants

The foundation charged with disseminating Southern California’s share of the 1984 Olympics surplus has awarded $386,190 in new grants to 20 youth sports organizations, bringing to $27.6 million the amount distributed in the decade since the Summer Games.
The largest new grant from the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, $69,000, was given to Little League Baseball Inc. for construction of a baseball stadium at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center in South-Central.
Also, $52,167 went to California Handicapped Skiers to enhance its programs at Big Bear Lake for 675 physically and mentally disabled individuals, $50,000 to Cerritos College for resurfacing its stadium track, $45,500 to the Constitutional Rights Foundations for a sports law program, and $43,980 to the Venice chapter of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
