Windmiller Named CSUN’s Softball MVP

NORTHRIDGE — All-American Amy Windmiller was named most valuable player of the Cal State Northridge softball team by a vote of her teammates. Windmiller (26-2) led the nation with a 0.36 earned-run average. The senior right-hander had 202 strikeouts in 194 innings and walked only 19.
Third baseman Shannon Jones, who paced the Matadors with a .409 batting average, 17 doubles, 13 home runs and 56 runs batted in, was named most outstanding offensive player. She set school records for home runs and RBIs.
Shortstop Vicky Rios, who had a .945 fielding average, was honored as best defensive and most inspirational player.
Catcher Jennifer Parker was named most improved.
