A smoldering cigarette or cigarettes that had been carelessly tossed into a trash can sparked a $70,000 fire at a woodworking business, authorities said Wednesday.
There were no reported injuries.
The fire at Three R Wood Design, 6168 Sepulveda Blvd., was reported about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis. About 40 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 20 minutes.
The fire caused $50,000 in damage to the building and $20,000 in damage to its contents. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is continuing, Collis said.
