ANAHEIM : Hospital to Open New Neonatal Unit
- Share via
Gayle Wilson, wife of Gov. Pete Wilson, will join civic and medical officials today in opening a newly expanded neonatal intensive care unit at Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim.
The 22-unit complex will feature a family “nesting room,” for sleeping, private breast-feeding rooms, a round-the-clock laboratory and radiology services.
The unit is the most sophisticated of its kind in the North Orange-South Los Angeles counties area, hospital officials said. The hospital expects to receive many patients from surrounding facilities that don’t have proper equipment to care for newborns, they added.
“This new unit will play an essential role as a regional referral center,” said John Cochran III, hospital president. “It provides the highest quality, most cost-effective care possible, while meeting the special needs of families with premature and medically fragile infants.”
