Randy Wolf
SCHOOL: El Camino Real
SPORT: Baseball
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Wolf pitched the Conquistadores to their second consecutive City Section 4-A championship, the first time since 1979 that a team has won two straight titles. Wolf was 12-3 with a 1.09 earned-run average and 133 strikeouts in 129 innings this year. The left-hander, who has signed with Pepperdine, was last season’s City player of the year and could win the award again. In the four playoff games, Wolf earned three victories and a save.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Wolf earned two victories and a save as El Camino Real raced to the title. He pitched a one-hitter against Carson in a quarterfinal game last Wednesday, saved Friday’s semifinal against Kennedy, and pitched all nine innings in Monday’s 7-6 championship victory against Chatsworth. The Chancellors exploded for five runs--two earned--against Wolf in the seventh inning, but he remained in the game and escaped a jam in the ninth, when he retired three consecutive batters with none out and a runner on second base. Wolf also was selected Friday by the Dodgers in the 25th round of the major league draft.
