A Week to Remember for Freshwater Catches

Southern California and the Eastern Sierra offered something for everyone in freshwater fishing last week.
The San Diego City lakes weighed in with six largemouth bass, from 10 pounds 9 ounces to 14-7 at Otay, and a 42-pound 3-ounce blue catfish--largest of the year--at San Vicente.
Posing for a picture, 5-year-old Jonathan Murata of Rosamond strained to hold the 5 1/2-pound rainbow trout he caught at Convict Lake, and veteran bass expert Bob Crupi drew attention by taking an 11 1/4-pound largemouth while “field testing” a new plastic lure at Castaic.
