The Oxnard Elementary School District has become the first organization in the state to receive reimbursement for a Medi-Cal outreach program, said John Fitzgerald, the district’s director of budget and finance.
The $248,000 reimbursement was for services provided between July and December, 1993. The money will be used to hire a nurse and a psychologist, Fitzgerald said.
Since 1991, the district has had only one nurse, who provides services to nearly 13,000 students, Fitzgerald said. The district has six psychologists.
