Israeli-Backed Militia Kills 3 Guerrillas

MARJAYOUN, Lebanon — Three Hezbollah guerrillas were killed in clashes with Israel’s surrogate army in southern Lebanon, keeping tensions high Saturday in the wake of an Israeli air raid on a training camp used by the militant Islamic group.
But there were no reports of new rocket attacks on northern Israel after two days of such strikes in retaliation for Thursday’s air raid, which killed as many as 50 people.
In the latest confrontation, three Hezbollah guerrillas were killed as they tried to mount a raid Friday night in the Rihan Mountain region of the Israeli-occupied “security zone” in southern Lebanon.
Security sources said the South Lebanon Army, Israel’s surrogate militia, detected the infiltrators and fired shells from tanks, killing the three men.
Hezbollah, or the Party of God, is fighting to force Israel out of its self-declared security zone in Lebanon.
