Franklin 7, South Gate 3--Self-destruction best describes South Gate’s performance Friday at East Los Angeles College. The Rams, uncharacteristically, committed four errors resulting in four Panther runs.
In the sixth, Franklin scored four runs on three hits, thanks to three Ram errors. The last miscue, a wild throw by first baseman Jesse Torres, allowed Franklin’s Angel Navarro to come home, making the score, 7-1.
Ram catcher Danny Mojarro made it 7-3 with a two-run homer in the sixth. Torres, who went two-for-four, scored South Gate’s other run on a home run in the fourth.
Franklin pitcher Jeff Deno scattered five hits and struck out two batters.
