Weekend TV : Marking Normandy Invasion Anniversary

Many of this weekend’s public affairs shows will either originate from Normandy, France, or honor from home the 50th anniversary of the Allied invasion.
Programs commemorating D-day on Sunday include: CNN’s “Late Edition’s” “From Normandy--50 Years Later,” with President Clinton, who will be aboard the U.S.S. George Washington, 2 p.m.; “D-Day: The Total Story,” 5 and 9 p.m. Arts & Entertainment; and “D-Day: The Great Crusade” highlights “CNN Presents,” 6 p.m.
For cinematic takes on World War II, there are Sunday screenings of “Hope and Glory” and “Battle of the Bulge,” 2 and 4 p.m. (13).
In sports, NBC (Channels 4, 36 and 39) will televise the women’s (today at noon) and men’s (Sunday at 8 a.m.) singles finals of the French Open tennis tournament.
