Drug Sweep Nets Players at Sylmar

SYLMAR — Two members of the Sylmar High football team were among 18 male students arrested on suspicion of selling drugs during a recent undercover narcotics sweep at the school, authorities confirmed Thursday.
Three students 18 or older were arrested, including Myron Brown, a senior defensive back. Troy Berg and Elisha Kubly-Dunbar, both 18, also were arrested.
Brown was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts stemming from the alleged sale of marijuana and cocaine, police said.
The names of minors arrested in the sweep, conducted last Wednesday, were not released. However, at least one other Sylmar football player also was arrested, The Times has learned.
The felony arrests were made by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Narcotics Division, which placed an undercover officer posing as a Sylmar student on campus several months ago, Det. Jeff Salo said. The majority of the arrests dealt with the sale of marijuana, Salo said.
The sweep was made as part of a program wherein schools are randomly singled out for undercover surveillance, Salo said.
Neither Sylmar Principal Linda Ambro nor football Coach Jeff Engilman could be reached for comment.
