Grave, Ziegler Lead North All-Star Volleyball Squad

Huntington Beach Coach Rocky Ciarelli and seniors Mike Grave and Nick Ziegler lead the North boys’ squad in the annual Orange County all-star volleyball match tonight at Golden West College.
Ciarelli, who helped the Oilers win a second consecutive Southern Section Division I championship May 28 with a four-game victory over Laguna Beach, will coach the North with Dave Herron of Whittier Christian.
Ryan Mariano and Todd Steinert, who helped El Toro finish undefeated in the South Coast League, lead the South, which will be coached by El Toro’s Mike Jagd and Calvary Chapel’s Chuck Wright. Calvary Chapel won the Division III championship this season.
Four players from the Corona del Mar girls’ volleyball State championship team, including Kim Coleman and Jennifer Stroffe, lead the girls’ North squad coached by Corona del Mar’s Lance Stewart and Fountain Valley’s Mike Hinton.
Hilary Kyle of Laguna Beach and Jeanne Vetter of Dana Hills lead the South, coached by Jim Downey of Calvary Chapel and Mike Hurlbut of Dana Hills.
The girls’ match begins at 6 p.m. with the boys’ match to follow at 7:30 p.m. The teams will play best-of-three-game matches to 31 points with rally scoring.
