Dodgers to Pay Strawberry $4,857,143

The Dodgers will make a lump-sum payment of $4,857,143 to Darryl Strawberry by July 1, according to the terms of their May 25 settlement, The Times has learned.

This amount consists of the balance of his 1994 salary, or $2,357,143, and half of the $5 million due him for next season, which was the final year of his five-year, $20.25-million contract.

Strawberry could clear 10-day release waivers Friday, making him a free agent.
