The Santa Ana Valley High School boys’ basketball team will play a home-and-home series with two-time State Division I champion Los Angeles Crenshaw, Falcon Coach Rich Prospero said Wednesday.
The Falcons will play at Crenshaw next season. Crenshaw will play at Santa Ana Valley during the 1995-96 season. It will be the first time Crenshaw has played a non-tournament game in Orange County, according to Cougar Coach Willie West.
Crenshaw, which has won six State titles, defeated Carmichael Jesuit, 89-79, to win the State title this season. The Cougars defeated Jesuit, 73-66, in 1993. Crenshaw has defeated Mater Dei in the Southern California Regional final the past two seasons.
Santa Ana Valley, led by All-Orange County guard Olujimi Mann, lost to La Crescenta Crescenta Valley, 69-67, in the Southern Section I-AA semifinals this season.
The Falcons also will play in the Raleigh (N.C.) News and Observer tournament next season.
