Gamble Paid Off: An endowment in honor of Stephen W. Gamble, president of the Hospital Council of Southern California, has raised $385,000 to date. Gamble has served with the council for 36 years and will retire in August.
Since 1958, Gamble has led the council from a handful of members to 250 health care facilities in six counties today. Gamble also served as a spokesman about AIDS in the early 1980s.
The fund will provide money for new projects promoting effective health care delivery and improved personal health.
The council is a nonprofit trade association representing health care facilities in Southern California.
