Sweeney, Hebert Lead Team USA to Another Victory

BOLZANO, Italy — The Mighty Ducks’ Tim Sweeney scored two goals and Duck teammate Guy Hebert had 41 saves as the United States beat the Czech Republic, 5-3, Thursday in the World Hockey Championships.
Sweeney, Craig Wolanin and Peter Ciavaglia scored in the first period as Team USA remained unbeaten in three games and virtually clinched a place in next week’s medal round.
The Czechs tied the score, 3-3, at 5:56 in the third, but Team USA went up 4-3 when Sweeney scored his second, at 9:01 on an assist from Duck teammate Joe Sacco. At 17:52, Bill Lindsay of the Florida Panthers scored his third goal of the tournament.
